Lil' Dilemma
My brother has a model airplane. All of the pieces are molded in black. He decided to paint a large piece white, without any primer. I can still see the black through it. I was wondering if it is ok if he just puts primer over the white paint. Then he is going to go back and paint it white again.

Give it a sand as best you can, then prime it in white

There's a couple of choices here: 1) Go ahead and put another coat of white on. I don't see any advantage to putting a coat of primer on top of the first white coat. then adding still another coat of white. 2) Remove the first white coat. Rather thn sand it off and lose a lot of detail, I would get some Castrol Super Clean (the purple stuff) and dunk the model in it overnight. The CSC will remove the paint. Of course, this is assuming that there is no other paint on the model. Recently, I dunked an AMT McLaren that I built in the 1960s with AMT LACQUER paint. It soaked for 2-3 days, but all of the paint came off.

Yeah, I can remember when having a car with a six cylinder engine was something to be ashamed of, not something to brag about.
