Stereo Install 97 Lude

Hey i just got a 97 lude Sh, and i put a JVC sx-990 in it and the rear speakers dont work, i tested all the channels on the head unit and they all work fine and i put back in the stock stereo to test the rear speakers and they worked fine too, i was told that if the rear speakers have a common ground they would not work with the head unit, does anyone know if this is true and anyway to work around this, any help is appreciated thanks in advance

I would recomend replacing your factory sreakers with something better. Dont give yourself a headache with your factory speakers. Get yourself some speakers that will sound better. In my opinion component speakers rock. Happy Holidays

5th gen rear speakers run off their own amplifier. It's located under the parcel shelf near the speakers. You might be running the rear speaker signal from the new head unit into the amp. Try running some wires from the new head unit direct to the speakers.

im assuming that you havent heard the speakers in the 5th gen ludes...put lightly, they kick ass. im a pretty big car audio enthusiast and i have no plans whatsoever to replace the factory sound system. once i put my audiobahn 12 for some big bass into my 97, im leaving things alone.

I like the stock system as well. I got the impression he was just changing out the head unit and wanted to run the stock speakers. Maybe the head unit broke.

I've considered replaceing mine, not because I don't like the sound but because I'm interested in one of the satelite radio systems. The add on boxes are one thing but a satelite radio ready head unit will give you a much cleaner dash.

Re: Stereo Install 97 Lude

i agree, plus with an aftermarket head unit you can add some essential features such as the satellite radio, and in my case MP3 player capabilities and more sound staging options among other things. i shouldve been more specific, im sorry, changing the head unit is actually a good idea, but as for changing the speakers, i have no plans, because like i said, they really do kick ass.

Hey. I completely agree. I put my pioneer head unit and two 10" sony subs in for a few months and ended up taking them out because the stock head unit was so much clearer and looks so much better. The prelude really has awesome bass and an awesome stereo

Re: Stereo Install 97 Lude

im debating wheather or not to put this sub in. do you think its a good idea? ive really been trying to get some decent advice on this. its the audiobahn ALUM 12Q. i guess its a really good sub, i paid close to $250 for it new. ive got the rockford 400s amp which should modestly push it. i have no plans of an aftermarket head unit as of yet. let me know what you think.

also welcome to AF, its good to have people here who completely agree with me!! haha just messin. welcome...
