It's probably held on from behind. Meaning you might need to take off the whole dash. I'd atleast either try softly prying it out to see where's held on to and with what OR get a manual.

yeah, it has to be held on from the back cause I looked at mine and didn't see any screws on it. I'd say take off all the knobs and what not and try to genly pry it off like the last guy said. If that doesn't work, start taking the dash apart.

On my civic (2000), there's little clips that hold it on from the inside (I don't see why it would be any different than yours). They're metal I think (we took mine off b/c we had to redo some stuff behind it), and you just have to push the tabs in so that it will come out.
I know it sounds like something is scratching the first time, but if you just *carefully* pull it (from the top) you will see the space in between, and just look for the tabs to push in. Then it should come right out, but remember that there's going to be a bunch of wires connected to it. If you can take out your radio/shelf first it makes it a bit easier.

Anyways, hope it helped.

I know I know, I couldn't remember if it was RiceRocketeer or Rice-Rocketeer and I didn't want to pick the wrong one.

Lindy, when you took yours off, how did you unhook the wire harnesses to the A/C controls? When I tried taking mine off a while back to paint it, I could only slide it out like a couple inches before the wires held it back, and I couldn't bend my hand far enough back to unhook the wire harnesses to the A/C controls. How did you do it? I heard you have to somehow figure out how to unscrew the controls from off the face plate, fro the BACK side of it.

dude, to safely do it, you must remove the lower dash. behind the center console, its held by screws so its harder for theives to pop it off

I dunno, mine was really easy to take off, maybe they screwed up on putting mine in, but it came off really easily.... ??
after I unhooked it, it came out pretty far, so I could see just fine and fit my hands behind it to unhook everything to get it off.....sorry, guess mine isn't normal I guess...... ??

I did, I had the entire lower dash pulled off to get to the screws that hold the radio in, which is attached to the face plate. In a 6th gen Civic, you can't get to the face plate WITHOUT taking off the lower dash pieces.

ok so with those screws under the dash removed, you should be able to pull out the whole center console. it should be one piece. the climate controls and such are screwed into the face plate. the wires are clipped in from behind too. its prettyy easy.
