My parents use to have satellite and so did one of my friends and it SUCKED!!! Anytime the weather got the least bit tempormental whether it was cloudy or raining we lost channels and had MAJOR interference. Now we have digital cable and i wouldn't trade it for the world.

Re: Cable or Satellite?!?

that must of been old technology or something tex, were you using the big satelite dishes or the mini dishes? I've had satelite for a little over 5 months now. never had a disruption and weather gets pretty bad in the winter up here in ohio with the snow and all so I guess I'll see if it last well through the winter. direct TV is great. interactive channels, perfectly clear reception and at a nice price. I admit though digital cable is nice, expensive and not interactive (that I know of) but damn nice. I think my bill is $36 a month for something like 150 channels. I can't complain.

Actually it wasn't that long ago, around 3-4 years ago. It was the mini dish. I believe it was Direct TV too. Some people have luck with the things and some don't, ya know.

Re: Cable or Satellite?!?

I personally like Satalite internet connection... oh wait, your not debating that... I had satilate and cable both, I like satilite more. Satalite internet is the bomb if you ever get it. We had a one way satilite. It took 5 sec to download entire movies. Try and get a 2 way if you like upoads etc.

For me Satillite is better. + it is cheaper then cable, and I get more channels with the Sat. I loss sat Signals about 2 a year. On a very HEAVY thunder storm or a Hurricanne. Cable goes out as least 8-12 a year in my area. + when the cable is done, it is down for at least 3-4 hours. I have never lost sat signals for more then 2 hours.
I guess it depends where you live.
Comcast and Cablevision ( Cable Co. in the Northeast) Are tring to get a sat. up so they can compete with Direct TV and Little Dish.
I have Direct TV, at $46.39 a month I get over 100 channels.

Re: Cable or Satellite?!?

I prefer carrier pigeons for my tv and internet. So, they get about 8 bits/second but after only about 3 hours of waiting for Horsepower TV to get here the reception id great. i am looking to upgrade to HD Pigeons, otherwise known as HDPTV

nah, i never tried satellite for internet, but from what i heard, it sucks for gaming, you get bad pings in servers. with cable i get good pings.
