Spray booth

[beginner]

In a few days I'm going to start spraypainting my enzo, but I don't have a spray booth. It's quite dusty at my place and I doubt painting my car here would be such a good idea. The weather is getting really cold so spraying outside wouldn't work either.

Doe's anyone have any suggestions on what I could do? I'm out of ideas.

I have been painting models for years in a dusty house without a spray booth.

What I find works the best (not perfect) is to simply cover the whole spray stand with a box of some sort to cover the model until it can dry.
You have to make sure to blow all the dust out of the box first or you are just asking for trouble there.

Usually the paint comes out pretty smooth. Occasionally a few small specs of dust here and there, but nothing that a good polishing can't get out.

i got the best cardboard box at home. i bought a leather office chair, and the box is about 1mx1mx20cm. It is perfect. You can fold out the flaps and increase the size and just close it up when the coat is done... i do this in the garage, which suprisingly is quite dust free. Best thing you can do is do a quick vacuum of the area, then put the box there and keep it closed at all times to minimize dust particles getting in there while you are not spraying...

I use a large plastic storage bin turned on its side. It's translucent clear, and allows light through. I got it at a home improvement type store. This is a nice improvement over a cardboard box, which is like painting in a black hole. The other advantage of a storage bin spray booth like this is that before painting, I can thoroughly clean it of dust. All overspray from previous painting sessions gets wiped out (paint mist sprayed in a booth eventually dries and becomes dust itself). If you paint in the same cardboard box that you've used before, you're guarenteeing your model will be painted in a dusty environment- quickly defeating the advantages of a spray booth.

I have two clip on lamps clipped to the sides of the bin to light whatever I'm painting. It's impossible to airbrush well if you can't see what you're doing!

You can do what a lot of people do. Paint it, then very quickly put it in the microwave to dry.

Somehow I don't quite fancy the idea of:
A. Painting in the kitchen (where I keep my microwave) , or
B. Running about the house with a car body covered with wet paint. If I dropped it on the carpet, I would scream. Twice.

Can't I just put the painted body in a plastic box with a small hole in it? Or will the paint not dry as it's suppose to then?

here is what I do.
I have completely took over the bathroom next to our living room.
Weather like this, we always have heat on(perfect).
the Bathroom is not dusty, is not windy, plenty of light and there is ventalation fan when u need it.

Just use the sink and a custom stand to hold up the body, use newspaper or cardboard to cover up the surrounding.

It works great for me although my mom hate the smell of it when I open up the door.

just do it outside.... i did once, my paint job was fine (meaning no dust, but i still didnt' layer enough to shine)

It works for me though, so whatever works for you is cool. I have a broken microwave that I use though. It stays right in the garage and I stick it in there when it's ready to dry.

Its not that good of an idea to paint outside these days. If you live where its cold, the cold with affect your painting.

I just use a big huge box and dust it out every couple of times.
