shaving side moldings

anyone here done this? I haven't gotten to the point of doing this yet but I was wondering if you weld it up and what guage metal to use, or if it's shallow enough to bondo. My bros project car already came w/shaved side moldings and when you knock on it you can't hear any dead spots, so the person did it right, which is what I'm goin' for. Thanks

I think it's safe to say that none of us have done this ourselves as this does require the meticulous hands of a professional...
If you are inclined to do it yourself, do practice on a junk car.

Plus, I've heard a myriad of problems when individuals have shaved their door handles and couldn't get in later because either ice has frozen in the jams or the solenoids died.

If you're not good with your hands, don't do it yourself. Have it done professionally.

well my Dad used to be an autobodiest and we were trying to find out how other people were doing this, thanks for looking out for me though.

Actually I wrote up a small article on how to shave off your door handles. It's the same procedure for the side mouldings. I'll post it up in the forum pretty soon.
