Drifting Gauges?!!!

Alright... This may sound stupid, but i'm east coast and only drift illegally in underground street style races. I'm always looking for some new gauges to add to the interior that'll help me out in anyway. I saw these gauges on need for speed underground (yeah i know, laugh all you want, i'll take drifting anyway i can get it). Anyway one of the types of racing is in drift fashion. Next to the tach and the boost guage you'll notice this nifty little guage that digitally shows you at what degree your car is sideways. I want to know if a guage like this actually exists. I got to thinking and it would be pretty handy, especially if it had a memory recall, just like some of the more popular tachometers many of us use. The recall would be able to tell us what the furthest, or most extreme degree your car was sideways at. Information like this would help to better datalog taking corners, and allow us to whip some serious ass in the sport. Thanks
Kris

Re: Drifting Gauges?!!!

are you serious?
i'm sure you could use a datalogging telemetry system to tell you the speed/g force/angle of the front wheels to get that kind of info.

there's no easy way to do it. you can do it in a game, b/c it's not real. it's easy to do the computations, especially b/c you've got the entire game "mapped" in the game cartridge.

the degree of your drift angle has nothing to do with being good at drifting really, i mean, if you can really hang it out there, that's great, but knowing how far out you are isn't going to help you do any datalogging or learning corners.

it's a FEEL thing, not a data thing. don't try to complicate something that's already pretty complicated to master.

Dude you wanna learn how to drift? go out and practice. Break things. Smack some curbs. Get a feel for it, no fancy guage will help you drift better. You probably just went and gave APC a cool new idea

JeffForSale! Tokyo Xtreme Racer: 3? How is it...I heard someone mention it and I just saw a copy at GameStop (or something...) the other day...

How many cars are there also? The box says over 15...so there are probably 16 or 17? What cars...the back shows an FTO and another car (decent one...can't remember it...skyline or rx7 or something)...

Re: Drifting Gauges?!!!

grand trismo v-spec is a bad ass game to drift on.. they have your slivias skylines 180's 280's any thing you can think of to drift it is on there.. the best corse to go to is the complex string lots of twists and turns there.. you can do it in the set up mode in your garge.. just go to run and settings and there you can drift the hell out of your car of choice.. is there a way that you can do the grand trismo play station 2 on the net.. to fid a shit load of guys to drift online with you would be awsome

Re: Drifting Gauges?!!!

LOL that last sentence seems freakin halarious to me.

If you had a gauge that helped you drift, then if your in a race, rnt u relying on the performance of you car to defeat the opponent? I don't have that much of a problem with it, its just that to me it seems like it'd take some of the satisfaction and feeling that you really beat the enemy.

Then again id totally use something like that to smoke some idiot who thinks he's all that, bragging about how his car has 500 hp to the flywheel, but then he can't turn.
