A/C compressor bracket 97 'burb
I am looking at replacing the intake manifold gaskets on a '97
suburban. I cannot figure out how to get the A/C compressor bracket loose from the block to reach the front manifold bolts. I see two bolts through the bracket to the block and a thin stud with a nut. I loosened the two bolts and it didn't move. I loosened the nut on the stud and it still didn't move. What am I missing? Also, what is the purpose of the stud/nut? bracket alignment? |

a\c bracket
i hope that youve gotten it loose by noe,if not you shouldent try doing intake gaskets,no offence.there are 4 bolts (1 of those is the stud)
2 upper,1 stud and nut and 1 lower (to the left of the power steering pulley, after removal pry(carefully forward to clear righthand bolt of manifold.(i hope youve removed a\c compressor first. note properly trainrd tech would complete entire intake job in under 3.5 hours(gravy job)hope this helps |

Thanks axle05. It was the low bolt I missed. I settled for
retorqueing the intake manifold bolts using a crow foot wrench to get the front bolt under the A/C bracket. Seems to have stopped my coolent leak for now. I'll keep an eye on it and maybe go for the gasket replacement when it not so dang cold out. |
