Scoller Error: Scroller has already been created
Any time I click "back" or "forward" in my browser while on this forum, I get the above error. Anyone know why? I'm on IE5 for Mac... I'm assuming it's a mac problem... any idea for a fix too?

I..uh.. I know I am the webmaster here n' all... but what's a 'scroller' ?
I was 99% sure its the bar on the left which you can scroll up/down to read the page, but if that is what is being referred to, it makes no sense at all... really sounds like a browser bug.

Yeah, I get the same thing too. Mac IE5.1 (on a laptop, not sure if the thumb-pad function contributes).
On my mac you have to click in a window before the side scroller function works. That seems to leave some code that generates the warning when you return and the code is already present. I haven't found a way to turn off the warning. Not 100% sure, but I don't think this started after OSX and the new Explorer. |

I'm far from a web expert... but here's my guess on the problem, maybe a moderator can create a hack to fix it. ....... In your web window, (IE, Netscape, etc) if the page is too long or wide for everything to fit in the window, it will automatically create a scrollbar so you can view the entire page. Regardless of what the scripting of the actual site says. It's a feature of the software, not the individual websites. HOWEVER I noticed in the source for this forum... there is a script that says: "<script language="JavaScript" src="http://www.automotiveforums.com/dynamic/scroller.js"></script" That is what I'm assuming the problem is. It seems the forum software is trying to manually create a scroll bar. I don't know why it would have to at all. Maybe if there is a moderator that is fairly good with computers, they can hack the forum software and try erasing that. Just a thought.

Being a Maccie myself, I was gonna rag you to get rid of your Bill Gate's software and go for Netscape!!! *lol*
Glad to see that you solved the problem! And good to see that someone else here is willing to rebel against "Evil"!!! (Now if only the idiot Tech Support people could fix my dang mac! )

But I found that Netscape 6.1 ran much faster than IE5, so I tried not to run it... 56k is slow enough w/o a slow program!
