88 Trooper trouble! please help
Hi everyone, Im new to this forum, I just recently found it after searching the net for some Trooper info. I have recently been having a problem with antifreeze disapearing from the rad. I have checked for leaks but cannot find one, it seams that the problem may lie with my heater. If I leave the heater control set at either defrost or heat, everything seams fine, but if I move any farther to the left such as on the vent setting, I can get a faint smell of antifreeze in the cab as well as smell it coming from the tale pipe. The engine runs fine, no missing or anything like that. I was told it could be a diaphram or a heater water control valve. I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or might have some advice for me. I just love my little Trooper and hate it when shes not doing to good. So any information would be greatly appreciated. I appolagise if Ive done something wrong with this post.

Re: 88 Trooper trouble! please help
if its coming from the tail pipe i'd suspect a blown head gasket.

Thanks for the reply, I was afraid of that. I ended up pulling the head, just got it done today, and I think the head is cracked, not posative yet, I have to take it to someone with a lot more experience than I have Im afraid. LOL. If I need a new head I just have to try and find one somewhere.
Thanks again I really appreciate it. Carol |

If you get a new head dont get a rebuilt one. It will just crack as well. Get a brand new aftermarket AMC head from http://www.aluminumheads.com You get can one with valves for about $550
