04 Suburban Help

I just received a Suburban for a fleet vehicle. I have two questions about the vehicle.

1 - there are 6 wires (2ea. Orange, Pink, Black and a 40amp fuse) laying on the passenger floorboard, they come from under the glovebox.
I have read the owners manual and only see where the fuse goes (fuse block in eng. compt.)
One person has told me they may be 12v+ all the time, 12v+ Ing. and ground? That does make sense but I cannot believe that a 14ga wire will handle 40amps without melting? BTW - in the fuse block where the fuse goes, one end is straight from the battery and the other is only a 16ga. wire at best? I do not need to burn a new vehicle, I will run my own power if need be.

2 - How do you set Driver 1 and Driver 2 settings? Nothing in the owners manual says anything about it?

Thanks in advanced.

Steve

Re: 04 Suburban Help

Is this a new vehicle or previously owned? Did someone have other equipment installed? You're right that 14ga won't handle 40amps. People looking for power just connect wherever they can. Usually the connecting equipment has its own internal fuse, so there's no concern on safety. Also sounds like someone may have wired power through the fuse box from the battery for their own use.

Sorrry can't help on D1 v. D2 until next month when the new Sub arrives. God will I love it with the girl friend though.

No it is brand spanking new, only 7miles when I picked it up.

The wires actually go to a plug and the plug is under the glovebox. I just have a bad feeling putting a load on that wire and the local dealer won't tell me anything since it is a fleet vehicle and was not bought thru them.
