I Have A 90 Integra That I Just Swapped Engines In.
After Swap I Found That I Was Having The Same Proplem With This Engine As I Did With The Original Engine. I Have Got A Haynes Manual Not Factory. I Went Step By Step Thru Each Section For Timing And Idle Adjustment. I Put Jumper In Connector Located Under Dash On Right Kick Panel To Check Timing Howerver The Engine When Warmed Up Will Not Idle Under 1200 Rpm. I Went To The Idle Section And Removed The Connector For The (iac) Valve As Instructed And Yet I Still Cannot Lower Idle With Idle Screw Even When Closed All The Way. I Have A Factory Shop Manual For My 89 Accord And Was Looking To See If The Flow Charts Would Help. Now That All The Info Is Out My Question Is This? Is It Possible For The Computer To Be Causing This Problem? The Reason I Ask This Is That There Are Only A Couple Of Items That Are Common To Each Engine And That Are Those Like Map Sensor Etc. Some Hoses And Computer. Please Advise: Thanks |

Re: integra will not idle
This can be caused by lots of reasons that the books really dont refer to. most people overlook the basic. Did u check the wires going to the computer?
faulty wiring, could cause it. Another major problem i get with older hondas/integras, is the throttle body. Theres a Fast idle air control valve on there ( the metal pieace that has the coolent lines going in and out of it) that tends to get internal vacuum leaks. even if u check vacuum lines, u wouldnt find the problem. Btw, what did u replace exactly? |

Re: integra will not idle
i replaced the iac valve that is located on the back of the intake manifold, then found that the the fas t idle thermo valve was not performing as per specs.
Those 2 items were very spendy. When i did engine swap those are the only parts that were changed out on the engine. Icleaned the throttle body as it had a lot of build up on throttle plate. I have use brake cleaner on several occassions to check for vacum leaks and have found none yet. I willl check the ecu connector asap put it will take a few days as step son is driving car now. thanks for the info. |

idle
where r u locate?..check the fast idle control valve.. go to www.g2ic.com for pics...u have a leak..is there a chk. light on...check the two prongs on the top right section of the i.man. spray satarter fluid on the lines.. not b. fluid.. also it could be the i.manifold gasket.. if u spray it there and the idle goes higher thats ur pro... a cheap way to fix it is to take some rubber and slightly clog the bottom hole of the throttle boy.. the hole is for the fast idle valve.. usually the wax inside the valve goes bad.. if that works replace the fast dile valve.. holla at me at [email protected] if u live in jersey come to my shop
