Possible to put a Turbo In a 4A-FE 1.6L '91 Celica ST ?
Just wanting to know if its SAFE to put a turbo in a '91 Celica ST with 1.6L Engine. I bought a used turbo from a '90 Celica All-Trac junker at the salvage yard for $55 and i'm wondering if its worth it to install it or is it safe for my engine?

Re: Possible to put a Turbo In a 4A-FE 1.6L '91 Celica ST ?
Oh by the way , i already have a custom exhuast (already installed when i bought the car, and performance brakes, thinking maybe they were gonna try to supe the car up but sold it instead) and i estimate my car to have about 120-125hp but trying to get to atleast 175hp. So maybe a turbo could gimme the 50 or so hp i need? Anyone know the possible cost to get it installed cuz i dont trust myself working on cars!! lol

WELL. yes, it is possible. first, i'd talk with the company turbonetics inc. they're good guys. if you have high miles on the car, i wouldn't do it, but if you got lower (x<100000), then i'd say sure, but don't boost a lot. 4a-fe is an economy engine, so don't expect a lot out of it. i was going to do the same, but then i got my hands on a 3sgte. it's definately better, but you could run a 4-5 psi boost, get about that much hp. it'll probably run you about 3k with intercooling, turbo and everything. peace.
