How much power can i expect from this engine combo?
I got 6,000 dollars saved up and i'm going to use it to order a long block from coast high. Here's what i've been thinking of:
306 street-figther Cam: .493/.510 lift int./exh. duration at 279/282 AFR 185's with a Performer RPM II Of course with a Diablo chip and Bassani long-tubes,shorty X-pipe (no cats) and bassani catback. oh yeah and 24lbs./hr injectors Just curious if someone could give me ballpark number, HP/Trq?

Lil over 50? that is incredibly short to the point of it not even being a conservative estimate. those heads are claimed to add a hundo by themselves. I'd say a frugal 130hp and i have no idea regarding torque.

You're probably going to be looking at over 300 rear wheel horsepower with a good tune and a manual trans. I'd highly recommend an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a good dyno tune, that can mean a 10-20 horsepower difference, not to mention setting your A/F ratio is good insurance. Also, don't scrimp on your valvetrain, get roller rockers to replace your stock crappy stamped ones.
I'm assuming you're looking at high RPM with that intake/head combo? If so check out a DSS 306 long rod shortblock or if not check out their bullet 331. I was gonna go with one of these but my Dad took care of the car for me while I'm in Germany. |

That's why I asked if he was going for high RPM. With that cam and those heads a 306 would be good in the 7000 -7500 rpm range, but would really need a bigger cam.
I agree w/ 165s for normal street RPM, but would also switch from the Performer RPM II intake to something w/ longer runners, otherwise he'll lose some torque.
