5 speed manual fluid type

This has probably been asked but "Search" won't seem to work for me.

5 speed noisy in my 93 delSol. Don't know if ever serviced. Wish to drain and re-fill.

Could someone please provide fluid type and capacity?

Thank you in advance, Sturgis

Re: 5 speed manual fluid type

I changed the fluid in my 94 DX. It took 10W30 motor oil. I think alot of hondas use that in the manual trans. But best to look it up to be sure.

There is Honda MTF and you can use 10w30 oil. I think the capacity is like 2.5qts or somewhere around there.

Re: Re: 5 speed manual fluid type

Unless the fluid is VERY low, changing it will not fix a noise, the damage has already been done. A lot of people seem to think gear lube(75w-90) helps, all it does is cover the nosie & make things worse over time.

Manual is about 2 qts

Honda MTF is recommended but, like posted above you can use 10w-30 engine oil, I'd go with 10w-40(max) in your case due to the noise.

On honda manual ones, just fill it until it can't hold anymore. On automatics you need to measure.

Re: 5 speed manual fluid type

cool, anyone know where you can pick up the body clips that hold the doors on? Can I just go down to auto zone or pep boys. Those damn things always strip/break or get lost.
