Cool Engine check light & emissions test

My '98 Jetta GLS (88k mi.) engine check light came on one afternoon and stayed on for a while. I remember it was a hot day with a lot of stop and start traffic. The light is now off and doesn't come back on. Does anyone know if I will fail a smog check in CA because the light came on at one time, even if it is off during the test? btw I am running a Neuspeed P-Chip with K&N permanent air filter.

Thanks!
