Question info on upgrading del sol

Hello, new to forum. I just bought a 97 del sol S. I was researching to reprogramming my ECU. Has anyone out there done this? Was it worth it? Was it easy? Who did you buy the programmer from? Any info would be nice.

There's all kinds of ECU's out there. I haven't changed mine yet, but I do suggest you wait. If you do a motor swap (which, according to your other post, you're interested in), you'll need a new ECU anyway. I'd leave it alone for now.

on the other hand, the worst kind of vice is advice. JET puts out a good ECU. from my understanding, you send them your chip, they send you a new already upgraded chip. From my knowledge of the upgrade, it's extremely worth it, and if you're force induced, it's needed! But like I said, I haven't done it yet, and I'm not an expert. Anyone who knows better than me, feel free to correct me.

a programmed ecu should be the last thing you do, because in order to get everything right you need to send a list of your mods to the programmer in order to get the best results. I have a JUN programmed ecu and it really makes alot more power, but fuel economy goes way down. If i modify my engine in any way, even by changing intakes or something stupid like that, the ecu program will not be 100% efficient. in the mean time a jet VFORCE would be nice, its a PCM that connects to your map sensor and tricks your engine into advancing the timing and adding more fuel. that was like the 3rd thing i got, cold air intake, header, exhaust, and the VFORCE i was running low 15's with sohc vtec.
