** 1/12 Skyline Gtr32 Completed After Six Months **
well guys... its the end of the road for this bad boy, the build is done and I think it is time to show its final product for you all...
so outside in the open... polished and waxed with meguairs number 7 and 26. and all buffed out and put together. so that is the effect after the last coat of wax, and polished before Me going crazy after three hours of sanding and polishing and waxing. sitting down like how a GTR should, damn it looks proud... shiny Well that is how it looks like open hooded... noticed the prop rod I put in the rubber sheilding like the real ones... Look at that tail feather... official nismo tuned GTR... and the metal transfer stickers actually stick out. final picture of the GTR posing in the light and shade. I believe that... Fujimi really did do a good job of a model at this kind of magnatude... its big, and if you go through with the car, you'll be happy with it... however, downsides is majority of fitment and sanding is really hectic and it is not fun at all. To the completion of the model, I still cannot fit the engine bay onto the body to have a flush fit... I will have to cover with electrical tape at the end to appear as a flush fit. Other than that... yep here it is. Enjoy and thanks for the support and following my post on the progress... I hope to share a new project with you folks soon. |

Maybe it's just me but that doesn't look very good... First, the kit itself isn't great quality, especially the front headlights - some 1/24 scale look better:
Primera man's Skylines: Second - the paint. Too dark, it hides the details of the body. Otherwise, good job. Check out this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ad.php?t=74956 |

Re: ehhh...

The paint? too dark? haha little buddy, that is the true gunmetal color of the car, don't think that the paint had anything to do with cars and their detail. If you wanted to see the details of the body, it does not only depend on paint... if that is the case then no one would paint their model cars or cars in real life with dark colors. And thanks I am on here already, I got my Tamiya R33 in the midnight purple and the R32 just got in last night. thanks But umm, yeah thanks for the comments guys, its good to know what people look for in a kit, but as for me, I think this kit was great, and what can I say Fujimi is the only one who makes this big of a GTR, so if I wanted to make it good, its all me, not the quality of the kit, if everyone blamed the quality of any of the kit because they build, then its might not be the quality of the kit itself, but maybe the builder. as my friend and colleuge says " the true art of modeling is how to fix the model when you have things going wrong left and right, and still come out with a good model." Constructive critisim, its a beautiful thing. But seriously, Ive been making model planes to cars since I was 5, kut fingers off with exactos, glued my hands together, and fudged over many models, but this car was the ultimate test... I had to save the back two times, dropped the car and scratched the paint... then sanding and masking and repainting... its a beautiful thing. Fujimi did put me through the ultimate test... and hot spit, I turned it into a model car. ![]() Cheers, Peter |

well i live in the bay area... in San Francisco Japan town, I believe that they are doing a model show there soon, I hope to display it there; win them over with size catagory =P haha, juss joking. I think my strong points of the model is definatly the paintjob and overall detail of the engine, but of course the chinese have a saying that "one mountain is always taller than the other." You think your model is the best, there is always another one that is better too. But modeling is an art, people have many different approches, and I think the beauty of it all is so many people building cars because they love it. I just want to show my work to innovate other to do this art too! To me, everyone in this forum does beautiful art work, from the younger ones builders to the experienced builders, everyone is doing what they love, and that is something that we should express. I model can never be ugly because every step of the way is learning the art. So the judging of the art should be the heart of the builder not how we use our own judgement to critize each other. that is my
I think, as this fourm is having age differences and changes, I think it is important for younger modellers to know that...1) Build for yourself not for anyone else 2) Never judge on the project itself on the basis of how it looks and your own personal preferemce, but try to see what the builder is seeing and feeling, and judge on that 3) Never give up on any project that seems to take forever to build. 4) Never stop improving the art of car building. I like this forum, I think we got many young minds, and older wisdom floating around, and I think that is the beauty of the forums, to share exprences... not to harsh judge people and their projects. Even when in our hearts sometimes we want to flame. Should always be humble to each other (honestly). skypie, the model was ordered from HLJ.com and including shipping it was 135 dollars even. I've been happy with the model, and I hope that since I did this model, I can influence others to try it too... a bit pricy but hey put it this way, its three to four models from Tamiya... so hey why not =D But Jay, after the show, I think imma case it and then prop it atop the living room TV rack for everyone to see =D I hope to share this project with everyone is the forums... I think it is a great model and great experence. Cheers, Peter |
