Stock Z28 LT1's
I was just wondering what a stock camaro z28 LT1 would compare to in the import world, if anything, no nitrous or turbo or supercharger, just say completely stock for now

Well...
'93 - 95 Z28 LT1's had about 265hp. Mid year in '95 they got a dual cat exhaust and gained about 10hp, so some '95s have like 275hp. In '96-97 the SS was re-introduced to the market with 305hp.

In a straight line, a stock Z28 with the LT1 runs in a dead heat with non-turbo Z32 Nissan 300ZX's, turbo MkIII Supras, non turbo MkIV Supras, and non-turbo FC's.
Cornering, a stock Z28 is about on par with a Lexus SC300, a Z31 Nissan 300ZX, or a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4/Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo.

Re: Stock Z28 LT1's
whoa no way really... I eat 4.6's
![]() j/k LT1's will take really good to mods, so if you leave it stock for now it'll do a fairly good job, start slapping on mod's and it'll be a beast. |

93-95 LT1 = 275 hp 96-97 LT1 - 285 hp (Y pipe) They dyno in the 240-250 rwhp range from what I have read. They basically fall flat on their face in the higher rpm range, unlike the LS1. With a decent set of heads/cam (Which are dirt cheap for an LT1), you can have a really good top end. All around they have the same potential as the LS1, although the LS1's engine is lighter (Aluminum). Don't believe all the BS about the LT1 being able to handle more boost then an LS1, just cause it has a 4 bolt head. I've heard that it is also BS. Typical performance figures for an LT1 0-60 5.5-5.8 sec. 1/4 mile 14.2-14.4 sec. @ 97-100mph. Top speed 152 mph. Last edited by 2000LS1Z28; 11-14-2003 at 08:30 PM. |
