Oil Pump?
Within the last couple days ive been noticing that when I start my engine up, it kocks like 3-4 times then runs fine. I was thinking that maybe it was the oil pump going bad. Today I went for a little drive and all the sudden the oil light came on. I thought it was just way low on oil because my car burns oil so without any thought I put some in it then checked the dipstuck. It was over the fill mark so thats not why it was on. Did id go on because my oil pump is shot? Oh yea one more thing, the light is only on at idle, when im driving or just rev up the engine it turns off. Please help me, I dont want to ruin my new ZC.

ok first thing to do is take off the oil filter, this one your going to need a friend and some brake cleaner. once you got the oil filter off crank the car have a friend to check if there is oil coming out if there is you oil pump should be ok. put the filter back on and clean the area good with brake cleaner get all the oil off
next thing to suspect is wrong is the oil pressure sender unit right above the oil filter just replace that and see if that help. get back to us and lets us know.

Alright, well I havent done that test yet but I was just out driving a little and now every time I idle, the car stalls or just fights to stay running. Its almost like the alternator because the headlights get dim and it dies. Its even worse when I have my brights on. Whats the deal?? Please help!

ok calm down it may be your oil pump going out (oh by the way dont drain the oil before doing the test in fact overfill the engine by a half a quart) your crank is probally getting hard to turn. but a way to check the alternator is to let the car run and then take off the neg side battery cable if the car is still running your alternator is good if it dies as soon as you take the neg battery cable off you alternator is shot
