Engine check light

ok this thread is for my uncle's civic, he has a 96 dx 5 speed...his engine light is on and he doesnt have the funds to take it to the dealer or put any money towards it to get it off, is there a switch or a button or a way to turn it off? please let me know thanks i appreciate it

Re: Engine check light

To reset the check engine light you need to locate the under-hood fuse box, then pull the Hazard fuse for 15 seconds. Also the negative battery cable can be disconnected but you will loose the radio memory & possibly the anit-theft code. If it is an anit-theft radio, make sure to have the code before disconnecting the battery - Pulling the fuse is the best choice for a reset.

If there is a problem the light WILL return until the problem has be properly fixed.
