Question 2002 325ci Hard Start.

Hi There.
I Just Got My Bmw Back From The Dealer For A Hard Start Problem.
When It Has Been Sitting Overnight, Summer Or Winter, It Takes Two Starts To Get It Running And It Would Run A Little Rough. After That It Runs Just Fine At Any Rpm.
First The Dealer Replaced The Spark Plugs Because They Were Fouled. That Was Red Flag #1.
Then They Dealer Has Informed Me To Drop The Octane Rate To 87 Or Lower To Fix The Problem. That Was Red Flag #2.

Im Going To Pump Some 87 Octane In There And See If It Does Anything Other Then Cutting The Performance.

This Just Does Not Sound Right, It Has 10000 Miles On It And It Started At 8000 Miles. Any Input Would Be Appreciated.

Ps. Wrote To Bmw International And Asked Them What They Thought Of The Situation, Waiting On Their Reply Which Should Be Interesting.

Re: 2002 325ci Hard Start.

Shit man you car is not that old Milage wise. I would definatly have them look over the ignition system more (you gota love warentees). Oh, and for future reference the octane lowering should not have anything to do with the starting of the car. An other thing to have them check would be the fuel system it could be that not enough fuel is in the lines so that the engine can start.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT, LOWERING THE OCTANE IS A NEW ONE ON ME TO. I THINK THEY COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A HARD FAULT IN THE COMPUTER AND THEY WANTED TO GET RID OF ME.
ANY WAY THE WIFE PICKED IT UP SO THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD GET AWAY WITH IT.
