**Help** 2-tone color car

Whats up guys/girls, I was wondering what kind of tape do I use if i wanted to do a 2-tone color car. All I need is a good tape that wont leave marks on the car and leave a good line where the next color meets. I would use scotch tape, but I'm afraid of the paint leaking the the tape. I would use electrical tape but I think that it will leave marks on the car..like sticky marks. If you have any suggestions please post. Thanks.

If you are doing a two tone and are worried about the paint creeping under the tape, one thing you can do is shoot a coat of clear before putting the second color on. Then if the paint creeps under the tape it'll be clear so you won't see it. Let the clear flash off before putting your color on and it should create a barrier that'll stop the color creeping under the edge of the tape .

And, with the others, use Tamiya tape...it's good stuff

i use Tamiya Masking Tape too....works wonders! never leaks, but i have a question: sometimes, instead of leaking, it leaves jagged edges (brushpainted and used acrylic bottle paint), why does it happen and how do i stop it? :wtf

Do you pull the tape off while the paint is still wet or wait until it's dry?

Re: **Help** 2-tone color car

Not immeadiately after painting but before it's completely dry, yes. What I do is mask it up so I can pull the tape from the line without having to unmask the whole car. That gives you something to hold (albeit cover in paint!) while you carefull peel the tape away.
What i do is cover the area to me masked down to withing about 4 or 5mm of the line the add a final strip of tape to define the edge last. Then a couple of minuts after putting the paint on a peel that strip off. Seems to work nicely but is pretty risky in terms of getting little bits of crap in the fresh paint. I usually wait until the paint has just gone touch dry on the surface before pulling the tape as it reduces the risk a bit.
