2 tone 70 chevelle ss454 or should i say 502

well here is my revell 1970 chevelle ss454 but it will be getting a ros gibson 502 bigblock so i dub this car the ss502 , there may not be any major progress on it untill the primera is finished here in a day or so. this is also my first time 2 toneing, it was suposed to be silver under blue but the tape peeled the paint off 4 times in a row so i ran out of silver, lol. and opted for white with some blue metalflakes in it. it will also be lowered over asohima 19 inch wheels. all i got right now is some crappy pics indoors since it is raining outside and has been raining stright for the past 2 weeks, we have had some major flooding and even a few tornados over the past few days so going outside is a no no,lol.

the flash on my cam dosent show the pearl in the colors at all, but when the weather alows i will take better pics.

Been wanting to see this on JDM. Looks good so far. Any pics of the rims?

One of my next projects will be a '71 Chevelle inspired by the TLC show "Overhaulin". I have a mint, unbuilt MPC annual that will get the pro touring treatment. I have some Aoshima Altstadt rims that look similar to the ones used on the show. I'll paint it some kind of HOK red pearl or candy and I have some Keith Marks SS stripes done in silver that will look cool.

Keep us posted!!!

Re: 2 tone 70 chevelle ss454 or should i say 502

I love the two tone, and I love this car. Its just kinda hurtful to put a 502 in a 454's place. The 454 in this car was legendary! With a new exhaust, intake and carb with the 4spd muncie on the chassis dyno, the car put out 480rwhp and 495 rwt. The LS5,6, and 7 were all legendary with the LS7 producing over 500+hp, these were and still are my favorite production big blocks to date.

Okiemodelbuilder,
it is your work that has inspired me to build this car the way that i am. i was going to give it some h.o.k yellow and some dry pearl scremin yellow over it but i was too impatiant.

86,
i am not sure as of now what motor im am going to use, i am kinda leaning twords a blown 454 but i want to keep it all under the stock hood.

here are the pics, i do kinda want the front lower but that will require cutting out the front wheel wells. should i?

Glad to be an inspiration!!!

The stance looks good in the pics, as long as the front is a little lower than the rear.

That is one pimp SS. The 2 tone works perfectly. Nice paint job. And DAYM! Those rims are the balls on this rig. Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more or it.

Amazing paint! Perfect separation between the colors, and just beautiful choice and shine. I saw it on the wheels in your second post with pics and I wondered if you weren't getting inspiration from Okiemb... I think he's inspired a few people around here. I don't know how the spaces are under the hood, but if you want to lower the front, don't cut into the wheel well. Instead, cut the wheel well off the car, add a strip of stryrene around where it mates to the chassis, and reattatch it. That way you keep the well intact. But I think it looks fine as is... and you could even raise the rear a smidge if you still want it to have that rake.

Re: 2 tone 70 chevelle ss454 or should i say 502

looks like you are figureing out the airbrush smoothly! looks sweet man! nice, smooth crisp! 1 thing though, next time u do a 2 tone paint job you might want to make the divider line flow with the lines of the car instead of perfectlt horizontal! would make over all apperance more clean but dont get me wrong, your finished product still looks A+!!

Definitely stick with your original Ross Gibson plan. In fact, if you can find it, get the infamous Ross Gibson "Alley Rat" EFI big block.

It'll definitely stay truer to the Pro Touring look you're going for.

And if you need more wheel well room for a severe drop, bust out the razor saw and the sheet styrene to section the wheelwells. Minitubs man. Minitubs.
