Question Just looking for some info About Sunbirds

I have a 91 Sunbird SE, has the 3.1L V6 and for the year only has 37000KM on her. The problem I am having is with the 3.1 under the hook there is NO room, I mean NO room. I want to get this thing running low 13s if at all possible preferably without the weight reduction. I was thinking of droping something newer but smaller uder there (Maybe a 4 banger with turbo) But I wont be gaining much there without a weight dropage. I havent been able to find much on the web about modding these cars and from what I have seen there are not alot of them that have been. Basicly I am looking for info on differet options I can take including dropping a new motor in.

Any Ideas?

Any resources on the web for what I want?

The GM Performance Parts catalog lists a couple of different cams for the 3.1L engine. I think it would be less work to build your present engine than try to swap in another.

You might find a 3.4L engine at a salvage yard; this is the same engine with a larger bore: 3.62" instead of 3.5". It would be a straight bolt-in.

Drop on by at http://moates.net and look around. We're in the hobby of modifying fuel injection systems for better performance. GM's seem to take mods well. Lot easier than EEC-IV Fords!!

Also, go to www.headersbyed.com and get his Header InfoPak for $22. Well worth the money! I'd strongly consider building a set of headers for your car.

Is your car MAF or MAP based?

Look for a 3.1 out of a 91 pontiac grand prix gtp. it has a 3.1 with a turbo putting out 220hp. Easy swap.

Re: Just looking for some info About Sunbirds

A better site is www.v6z24.com Its a site for Cavaliers and Sunbirds..

You will never get 13s in a Sunbird. Most we can hope for is high 15s...
