I have a 1995 Buick with a "VIN L" 3800 V6.
The Salvage Yard gave me a 1994 "VIN L" 3800 V6 to replace it. The one in my car as a "OIL LEVEL" sensor in side of Oil pan. The Salvage 1994 engine dosen't have this and I was thinking about changing out the pan when I swap engines so the salvage one has sensor. Will this work? Is there any type of stamping on Engine block to know correct replacement? Is there a Cross reference between engines. It is my understanding that the VIN "L" engine in my 1995 Buick LaSaber was mfg from 1993 through 1995. Thanks Joe |

Re: Engine REPLACEMENT "VIN L"
The pan should be swappable. Same engine code, same engine, with minor changes that won't effect it's swappability.

Yep, the engine is the same... The sensor is for the models that have a gauge for the oil instead of just the warning light. It's no problem to swap out that oil pan.
