Slight vibration while steering.

Hey Guys and Gals,

Was browsing at GMForums for a couple of days just before it went offline. Too bad, lots of info there. Hopefully this place can turn out to be just as good. Just got my 97 Aurora this September and I am loving every minute of it (first car).

I am having a bit of an issue though. My gas pedal vibrates for a second whenever I do the following:

1) Start the car, put it in overdrive
2) Make a full 90 degree right turn
3) After completing the turn, I accelerate for a few seconds and I experience the vibration. This vibration would not occur again for the entire drive.

Recently, I am feeling a vibration in the steering wheel whenever I make slow turns (such as getting out of a parking lot, again the car is in Overdrive, not Reverse). The vibration seems to go away after I start driving on main streets.

My dealership showed me GM bulletin #99-02-32-008A which claims that installing an "Anti-Shudder Power Steering Outlet Hose Assembly" should fix the problem. I am, of course, a little wary of spending $400 including taxes to do this, especially since it may not fix my problem (I have heard that this worked for 1/5 Aurora owners).

Any suggestions or thoughts on the issue would be appreciated.

I get the same thing in my 99 as long as it goes away I'll keep on driving. Another thing that sometimes happens in my car is when I touch the brakes right after start-up it feels like the ABS goes off very slightly the pedal is hard and feels like if I really had to stop I couldn't. I release the pedal hit it again and it's fine.

Check to make sure no one re-routed the path of the accelerator cable during a repair. Maybe try to adjust the freeplay. I too, have the low speed shudder felt in the st. wheel. Very slight though.

The only thing that I did before experiencing this shudder was I had the water pump replaced. (leaking coolant)

I didn't notice it before then, because if I felt some vibration during the test drive, I probably wouldn't have bought it.

If it's not affecting any components, you may have to live with it.

I get some vibration too, but I dont think its anything so I dont worry about it.

When I start up and hit the brakes for the first time, sometimes it feels weird, I heard this was just the abs testing itself, so it shouldnt be a problem.
