14b Installation

Ok I should be recieving a 14b within the next week here and wondering what is needed to put the 14b on to replace my t25 on a 97 spyder. Is it a direct bolt on with the nessessary needed oil return lines etc. Or do I have to do some sort of bending or weilding, install kit to get everything to match up. Just asking because the only think ive ever installed was I/c pipes and bov. I usually dont do most things myself (fuel pump, clutch etc) just basic stuff (i/c pipes, intake, tune ups). Thanks and should have 1/4 mile times up asap after turbo is on and 550 injectors etc. Just need instructions so I can get it on take it to the track for the first time...Peace

it bolts on to the manifold fine, but you need a "J" pipe.

the oil return line is also different, i would suggest going to www.roadraceengineering.com and buying there "hacker/tweeker" kit. it comes with everything you need to install the new turbo on you car. i just got my 14b and that is what i am going to do. hope that helps.

Go to www.vfaq.com, instructions are already there.

Here is the short version. The turbo bolts right on. You'll need a feedline kit for about 50 bucks from the major vendors, or the parts from a 1g. The return line is different as 95gsx said. You can get the 1g part, or just file the bolt holes closer together. Also, the bolts that hold that drain line to the turbo are different. No big deal, just be prepared. The water lines are next. Swap the front with the rear and bend slightly to fit. Tom made notes about that in the vfaq in red. Or as always you can buy the 1g parts. The turbo inlet pipe will fit right on, as will the O2 housing and exhaust.

Its all bolt on, and should take a first timer 6-8 hours. I think I've done the swap is as little as 3 hours. Not that big of a deal once you've seen it
