Injen and AEM intakes for 6spd.

Well, I really want to make the jump and install one of these intakes. My problem is that although the injen and V2 give an amazing boost in power, as seen on the dyno, these apps don't come with a bypass valve. Apparently if you use a bypass valve it will screw up the air waves and hurt performance.

So my question is, has anyone ever seen or heard of someone sucking water up into their engines? How did they do it? If I am driving around in a good ol fashion Southern Thunderstorm is this going to happen to me. In other words, I use this car as an everyday commuter and don't want to be driving it worried I am going to kill my engine .

BTW, AEM V2 is claiming 18.X HP gain to the wheels and Injen is claiming 14.4 HP to the wheels. Although, I have heard those numbers are distorted because they run the tests with the hood open...

I put on an AEM cold air induction system on my 03 Stratus in the middle of the summer. I also had the same concerns with the water ingestion problem that could occur. But I went ahead and proceeded without the bypass valve. The majority of everything I have read on the matter said that the filter would have to be submerged for this problem to occur.

Since putting it on I have been caught in a few thunderstorms with some pretty heavy rain and I have not had any problems. I also went through the touchless automatic car wash a few times and never had any problems (even with the undercarrige spray that it had)

A little while ago I moved the filter up into the engine bay just for the winter months. I prolly would get by just fine in winter since I dont plan on plowing through large amounts of snow.

In it you will find what others have to say about it, granted the majority didnt see it as being a problem unless you plan on going through some deep water.
