95 Jimmy Stalling

I have a 4.3 Vortec and it starting stalling on my way home today. I put the truck in neutral and it starts again but I rev up the gas a bit and throw it in drive and it accelerates a just a second and then dies. Sometimes, if I keep my foot in the gas, it would start to accelerate for a 1/2 sec and then die. Sometimes it would stutter like this 2-3 times before dying. However, it wouldn't run for more than 3-4 seconds total. I know this is pretty vague but I hope someone may have some suggestions for me. Thanks!

It sounds like your fuel pump, if its stalled at times before this insedent this will be your problem.
Like prev reply you may have a loose plug wire.

I changed my fuel filter last night and it runs better. It will smoothly run in park with no load. It accelerates up to 4500 rpm with little to no hesitation. However, when driving, it starts stalling again at about 30 mph. I have bought a new fuel pump and plan on putting it in today. Any suggestions for draining the tank? I was thinking about undoing a line in the engine compartment and running a hose to a tank. Then I figure I can turn the key on and let the fuel pump drain it dry. I just filled the tank last night before this problem started. The problem is that I can't seem to find the fuel line in the engine compartment. Suggestions?

I aggree this sounds like a fuel delivery problem, and fuel pumps always seem to go out when the tank fills. I would brace the tank up with a floor jack and a wide board to protect the tank. lower it just enough to get access to the fuel lines at the top of the tank and disconnect the line, use ignition to pump out fuel (notice there is more than one, one will be the return). This will keep the fuel away from battery and starter...
