Cool 95 neon timing belt urgent question

my 91 acura just lost its tranny because my gf slammed it into gear while i was in neutral so my friend is selling me a 95 neon w/ a supercharger because i am desperate for a newer car, the ac is barely driveable, and he says that all it needs is a timing belt. if he snapped the timing belt does this mean that a valve is likely to be blown too or no? He only wants a couple hundred for the car but i dont wanna have to put a new engine in it, so how can i check the engine to make sure there are no other problems and what are the chances of a valve being f***ed on it ? I need to know asap so thanks for your help

All I know is that when I broke the timing belt in my 95 I bent 14 of the 16 valves. I did not have to replace the block I did how ever have to replace the head. I got a good used head at a salvage yard for $75 the main cost was the price of the valves and the labor to do the head work.

It was worth it I love my car.

Re: 95 neon timing belt urgent question

If you timing belt had snapped, it would not run....
Also, if the valves were bent, chances are the car would backfire and make a noise like a rifle being discharged. If it's a freind?, change the plugs, ten bucks, the fuel and air filter, and put in a can of injector cleaner. Freind or not, it could be expensive to fix.
