Keyless Entry - No Range

Hello,
I've got a '94 Dodge Intrepid with a keyless entry range problem. The system is factory installed. It seems that over the last 10 years the range of the keyless entry remote has diminished severely. Yes, I've changed batteries several times. Also, the second remote that came with the system doesn't have a great range either. Is there anything I can do without returning the unit to the dealer. I'd rather not hear them tell me that it just needs replacement (although I realize that is what it might take) for a huge amoutnt of cash.
Any experience out there with this? What did you do to help?
Thanks, Steve

I have heard that the 93 and 94 units were not that great. You can get that and remotes on Ebay all day long at a good price. It is under the rear view mirror just under the pannel that runs along the windsheild. Hope this helps !!!

Well, I bit the bullet.
Last weekend I had a new remote installed from Great Scot electronics. I got a keyless entry/trunk pop/remote starter/panic/car finder unit installed for ~$250.00. The range is advertised fro up to 1000 feet. Sure has been nice these past few days in New England where the temperatures before wind chill have been in the single digits.
Thanks for your help,
Steve

Ouch !!!! I have never had a working remote for this car and i just won two brand new ones for the 95 or 96 intrepid. If it has power locks it has the module. Proraming is simple it said just by grounding the green wire that is running to the trac control and turnning the key on and hitting the button on the remote. No tools to pull the pannel of it just pushes on. We'll see if its so easy or not. With my luck NOT !!!! Tim

Re: Keyless Entry - No Range

I did get my remotes and after pulling the pannel to the right of the steering wheel and pulling the connector off the trac control I ran a piece of wire from the green lead on the plug to any metal you can ground it to. I ran mine just under the dash and then turn the key on but don't start the car and the locks will cycle on there own. Then just push a button on the remote and it's programed. If you have two remotes push its button and again the locks will cycle. Turn the key off , pull the wire and plug the trac control back in and push your pannel back in place and your done. If it cycles when you turn on the key but won't cycle when you push the button on the remote I would bet the batterys are dead. Good luck ! PS. The dealer wanted $45 to do what I did in about a Minute never having done it before. Bet I could get it down to 25 seconds next time !! LOL
