Angry Losing Boost!

Alright, I've got a problem with my baby, she runs fine until, I floor it, what happens is ill put it in first, then i floor it, boost goes to about 15 like its supposed to, and then wham around 4000rpms, she cuts out, boost goes to 0 and it wont let me accelerate unless i shift gears.
I've already given her the full tune up, and im still lost, any ideas and help would be great!
The only mods im running are a full three inch exhaust from the header back, and a three in. intake and an apexi bov. and magnecore wires with new ngk plugs.

How much did you gap the plugs to? It should be around .28-.30. Also is your BOV recirculated back into the intake?

I doubt the BOV is dumped back in. At any rate, it should cause this. I ran vented for years (not that it doesnt suck). Is this a 1g or 2g? If its 1g my guess is a boost leak is putting airflow over the fuel cut threshold. A 2g shouldnt hit fuel cut on a stock turbo, even with a leak. So my next guess would ignition as well. Does the car just basically shut down, or will it sputter and limp along if you stay in that gear, etc.

Is it a 1st gen or 2nd? Other than wires/spark plugs. Sounds like a fuel pump problem. I ran 16 psi on stock fuel pump fine. But Every car is diffrent. Otherwise I havent a clue.

I ran 12s on the stock pump for some time. The only pump related thing I can think of is when the person installing it forgets to add the spacer and/or Oring. Then it will give the exact symptoms described above. It usually happens right after (or shortly after) installing a pump though, it doesnt just happen randomly to a stock pump. Good idea though.

Im sorry, im running a 2nd gen, and im also running a walboro 255lph pump. The only other thing that it's doing is if im just sitting and i rev my car, even without being in gear, the rpms will drop really low to like 200 or 300 then rise back up to about 800/900.

Re: Losing Boost!

you are hitting your boost cut, so either dump the BOV or get a boost controller. i just went thru a similar problem, where everything shuts off at about 4k rpm and idling is erratic and sometimes the engine would die alltogether on shifts, the rpm just dropps to zero.

Are you running a AFPR with that 255? Is it a HO 255? That may be the cause of your idle problem
