I'm so pissed off right now. I pull my Fujimi Celica out cause I have some time and I start to piece it together, the wheels are gay and they don't go on straight, ok, I can live with that. Then I start to get the body all assembled so that I can paint it tomorrow. The spoiler is about 2cms too wide. I'm starting to really get pissed off. I move to the bumper, the bumper is fricken 4cms off. How the hell do they make a kit so fricken bad? I bet that I could make a better fricken kit out of a sheet of flipping paper. I'm sorry, but I just so pissed. Non of the parts are the right size, or width, or straight. How the hell do they manage to stay in buseness?

Sorry to hear its such a crap kit by the sounds of it.
It does piss you off when you pay good money for kits these days and get let down like this. I know most of there kits lack good detail and fitment...but 2-4cm is not acceptable (do you mean MM ??) I'd take the bastard back and complain about it if it was me

Actually I had pretty good experience with Fujimi.
Their Garage MAK S15 and Re-Amemiya models were both ok to me. Much better than some AMT poop. But yes, I've heard about Fujimi. Such as their re-boxing, inaccurateness, out of scaleness, and bad fitment. But with me, if they make the car I want to build I'm gonna work on it, I'll try to fix it, no matter what.

Re: Never EVER buy Fujimi!!!!
It's the Celica XX isn't it? That's like some 20 year old kit, just like the 280ZX I'm working on right now, so it can't be helped. 280ZX is even worse.
Besides, we don't even know if it's tooled by Fujimi. It could be made by one of those companies, that went out of business. |

Re: Never EVER buy Fujimi!!!!
It really does dissapoint you. I spent my all the money that I made over the summer, and that kit was about half of it.
The bad thing is, I can't take it back, I live 8 hours from the place that I bought it.

Ive never had any problems with fujimi. I think there great. They produce more of the cars im interested in and there parts fit great.
But after hearing so many stories, im waiting till i get a complete waste of plastic. But so far, i dont see how. Then again...i havent built a tamiya model yet so i can compare them.

I think its all been said...
That kit (Celica xx) is an old kit and has been re-issued a bunch of times. The Fujimi kits released at that time did often require some work to get the bumpers to fit right and the suspension, even as simple as it was, required work to get the wheels right as well.

Re: Never EVER buy Fujimi!!!!
Sorry, for the bumper I ment 4mm. The spoiler though, is about 2 cm's off. Sorry, I was just a little upset and not typing to well. Anyways, how do you fix something like this? It seems like there is no way, but lots of you have built Fujimi, so I guess there is a way to fix it. Enlighten me.

If the bumper and spoiler is too wide, maybe you can narrow it by removeing a section out of the middle, glueing it back together, and brace the joint by adding styrene to the backside over the joint.
If they are too narrow, try cutting them in half and add styrene strip to widen part then shape the styrene to conform to the bumper and spoiler with files and sandpaper, don't forget to brace the joints. Here's a tip, if you use liquid cement(Tenax-7R, Ambroid ProWeld, etc...) let the glue soften the plastic at the joint and press the parts togethr until the plastic oozes out of the seam. Allow it to set up overnight and shape it up with files and sandpaper. This eliminates the need for any filler.HTH

I feel you, man. I bought one Fujimi kit in the past, haven't bought one since. Unless they're the only ones that make a particular car, I don't even consider them.

I have a High-Mecha Celica XX (A60 Supra) kit with a complete 5M engine by Fujimi, and it doesn't seem so bad. But then, the body would be different from Thoge one. If you wanted the A60 Supra, you could have got the Tamiya or Aoshima one, but again, they weren't that good back then, so as far as A60 Supra is concerned, you don't have much choice. Good luck. |
