Heater core replacement.
My sister needs to replace her heater core. I don't have any specifics on the Blazer, except that it's 80-something. I don't know if the design changed too much for this to be a remotely decent question, but is it a difficult task to get to the core, or is it a 'remove the engine to get to it' type of job? Thanks.

Heater Core Fix
Hi I can tell you that replacing the heater core it self is easy as undoing two hoses and replacing the core, the problem is you must remove the entire dash board and all the components attached to it. Have fun it took me about 8 hrs. start to finish being a newbie.

Can we say dread?
I'm still doing mine. Started yesterday, found out the work I did in the AM wasn't needed.....
I've done three cores before so I knew what I was getting into. Now I need to spend $122 at the dealer (cheapest I could find!) Plan on a day, maybe less, but you will be uncomfortable doing the work. Heater core or Heated to the core?

You might try Auto Zone for the Core. They're usually cheaper. You can always disconnect both heater hoses and buy a splice fitting and two hose clamps. Autozone sells a splice fitting to accommodate the two different sizes of hose if you need it. But this will only buy you a little time and allow you to schedule your heater core removal for a more opportune time.

But Auto Zone was $169, the dealer $122. I'm giving up. Called my friends shop, off it goes.
Friday the 13 struck hard....I don't even want to say how stupid I was...just leave it to say I now need some body work on another car of mine..... LaSabre, sorry for hijacking your thread.... Like I said, I've done 3 other cores before, this one beat me.
