My final job on my mr2 is to get the lamborghini doors. I've checked around and from what i hear is that kits for such type doors usually cost around $3,000 with installation , but since there are no kits made for the mr2 it might cost ya a lil more. Down sides of this mod might be the hinges not closing correctly , funny noises and or leaking from the windows (even worse when its t-top). So make sure you have someone that has done this type of customization before and make sure you do it right. If you do doit please lemme know how it is.

door solution
Actually there is two sites that have these vertical door kits.
well I only found two, anyways, here they are: www.SuPie.com (Just directions not materials, but cost less) www.teamprototype.com (Kit includes everything, you may have to call them) Good luck on your car... |

Re: lambo doors
ive seen people who are really good with fabrication making them themselves. its a fairly simple design, just one piano style hinge that moves the door out from the car, and then a hinge that allows the strut to push the door upwards. the problem with these that ive seen before is not having enough room to get adequite leverage to actually shut the door.

This place has the fully automatic ones. They certainly cost a pretty penny though.

Re: lambo doors
2200 for door hinges is a bit outrageous to me. think of how much faster your car could go without spending the money on those...to eash their own i guess

Re: lambo doors
I know a guy who makes those kits for a fraction of the price that other retailers sell them for. He makes them himself and they work just like the ones you can buy for 4 times as much. If anyone is interested just let me know. i can get him to make them for you guys.

Re: lambo doors
lambos are pretty cool on any decent car, but the mr2 is a low cost high performance machine and those doors are only gonna wiegh you down not worth the money and unless you plan on makeing it a hella badass show car I wouldnt consider it. If you buy a universal kit it can cost a ton to get those put on depending on what car you have, but ive heard of people paying as much a 7k parts and labor

Re: lambo doors
To each there own.
For those interested in lambo dors for the MKII MR2, there is a group buy on them from a very reputable dealer on the MR2 board. I believe the price is $1750 and adds 39 lbs to the car. Check out the group buy forum on www.MR2OC.COM
