Ok, I gotta ask what the point of this is. Are you saying that anyone who puts mesh wheels on a 240 fastback with an sr20 is a "ricer"? or maybe anyone who went to the D1? If so thats pretty dumb, mesh wheels are some of the nicest styles out there and the D1 was put together by? you guessed it, Drifters!.

The only thing I can get from that comic thats truthful is the idea that is dumb to use an S13 to make the ultimate drift car.

Even Kenji, who I NEVER agree with, gets the humor. If we can, you can too!

I sure hope you don't take all the other Garfield cartoons so seriously... also If you look closely, it looks like Garfield has been freezedried.

Buahahah! great post dude.

I think the point of this comic is to get a rise out of him, and other newfounds who take drifting as if its a religion, and dont wanna be seen as "rice".

Oh well, the guys on the 240SX forums loved it.

Newfound? take it as a religion? HA! Drifting and sliding is a way to have some fun at 3am, not a form of spiritual devotion. In fact I take it no where near as serious as most other forms of motorsport such as autocross and hill climbs.

Also, I really don't care what someone sees me as. You can't have any fun in life when your worried about what strangers think.

Back on topic, I can take a joke but I just really don't see any coherency in this supposed joke. What do mesh wheels, an sr20 and the D1 have to do with "riceboys"?

riceboys who, these days, see drifting for the first time, think "yo guys, that's phat. i'm going to take my Civic and be the ultimate drifter, yo!"

the most popular drift car in north america, without question, is the 240SX. the most popular mod, without question, is the SR20. ricers who went to the D1GP in Irwindale Cali. in August will have seen it for the first time, and vowed that they will be the "ultimate phat drifter, yo!" so they go out, buy our precious cars and our precious engines, and smash it into a hill. or they build up the car and use it as a show car and claim they're a drifter.

these guys have no determination, no drive, and the only reason they want to drift is a) because it's the latest fad and b) to look cool in front of their friends. they don't understand how taxing drifting really is, or how much time it takes to even get good at it.

i think the comic is funny, because it's true. but it also makes me sad, because i've wanted a 240SX with SR20 and mesh wheels for over 6 years now, and now that drifting is the new fad, the car is becoming mainstream and my sport and my car are getting exploited by huge companies in order to make money off of the ricers that want to drift.

there ARE some legitimate people coming into drifting these days, but the companies in north america, such as APC, are exploiting it for money and ruining the image. it makes me super-pissed, but i'm not going to let it really get to me. i still love drifting and am still currently looking for the perfect 240SX for me to buy and build up with an SR20DET. i could care less if it's a fad and i could care less how many rice-boys are ruining it, i love it and a couple of idiots aren't going to make me abandon the sport and car that i've loved for years.

Our? Since when have you been selling "our" cars and engines to ricers? J/K

god shutup wanderer, it's a joke in case you couldn't tell.

But I'm with S13 on this, it does kinda make me mad because so many ricers/posers are getting into it and taking what a lot of people have been into for years now and turning it into some sort of fad. It pisses me off when I hear about or see some guy trying to act like he knows what he's talking about when it comes to drifting,

But that's a good one though Dorikin!

ha...
i think it's great...
not the first time i saw it, but since the thread is all about it...

it's true though...

jdm styled anything was the "in thing" last year, and it's the new rice.
drifting, and anything that follows along that route, will take it's place...

i wanted a 240, but i won't buy one now, simply b/c i'd be seen as a poser... though i've known about this stuff for years.

it's like that sig that dori used to have about ricky chu's 240. the drift look, without the drift.

i don't see the drifting phenomena becoming a bad thing, but it's going to explode for a minute, then the ricer's catch on, then it dies out and the diehard guys stick around and make it memorable for what it really is...

you don't see drifting as something to get fanatical about? it's just fun?
drifting is like figure skating. there's no points for speed, you win based on subjective reasoning, not like most other motorsports, which are objective and not opinion based.

it's all about getting noticed, and some people eat/sleep/breathe drifting, just like they do nascar, or f1, or cart, or irl, or ALMS, or...

Screw that, DO YOU.

Get the car. Kick any accusers in the balls.

I think I have been called a poser hmmmmmmmmmm too many times to count. It is fine. I owned a civic and bought a Jetta. There goes the poser. Then I got a 240. There goes the poser.

Whatever! It is the internet. I don't see many people with the same attitude when they meet each other.
