Question 94 Bonneville SSE Compass

Just bought a 1994 Bonneville SSE I have figured out how to work everything except for the compass. Is there a way to reprogram it because sometimes it doesn't tell me where i am going and other times it just points to the south west. Also what do the zones mean. If someone could help me I would be greatly apprietiated. Thanks

The zones are for the different areas of the country. The Earth's magnetic field varies and the zones compensate for that varience. You will need to consult the owners manual, or dealer, to find what zone you live in. After you have the zone you can hold in the mode button until the zone pops up - then hit the mode button till you get to the desireed zone. Next you will have to hold the mode button in until the work Calibrate comes up. Once this happens you will need to drive in a circle at steady speed - no exceeding 10 miles per hour. the compass will be rotating and calibrate I think will flash while this is happening. if it beeps at you three times the calibration has failed. This is what I remember off the top of my head. good luck
