Question Tire size for my CL-S

Does anyone know if a 235/45-17 tire will fit on the 2001 CL-S?

The oem size is 215/50-17. According to my calculations the 235/45-17's would have a slightly smaller circumference [less than 1%] smaller and would be merely 2 cm or less than an inch wider in sidewall width. Would a slightly larger size be too large and rub against either the strut assembly or the fender? I noticed one company did offer a plus-2 upgrade of 225/45-18 and 235/35-19. Having upsized before I'm alittle worried that if I go for the "plus one" or "plus two size" I would risk bent rims from potholes.

I feel the oem tires are too narrow and there are a lot more tires offered in the 235/45-17 size. Can anyone tell me whether this size would fit?

The widest size that guarantee fit for your car is a 225/50-17. There is a strong possibility that 235/45-17 will rub depending on wheel width, offset and tire model. Before attempting to run this size I would with other 01 CL-S owners to see what they've run and what mods & and/or amout of rubbing they've encountered.
