Thats what I wanted to do with my motorcycles motor after I crashed it... turn it into a 600cc six speed sequential shifting go kart.
Carb'd DOHC 4 cylinder with 10,000rpm redline... makes for a fun go kart... these guys went one step further with a 1100cc motor. crazyy. Imagine if they used a newer motor, like one of the Honda motors with Vtec. Insane!

i'm going to assume that's a USAE cart, built by a college...
there's a competition that they have with those things, look like tiny formula cars, with bike motors and trannies... quick. 0-60 in under 3 seconds... most of the big colleges are into that...

It looks like one... I was involved in building one my sophmore year of college at WPI. It was a really fun expirence and the colleges that do it invest huge amounts of money. We had a brand new Ford duelie Diesel Truck and Covered Trailer that could fit 3 cars. And just other ridiculous amounts of money for the program. We use to have fun bringing it to local SCAA events and airports for testing on the weekends.

We used a 750cc S/C motor, we did that first and then expiremented with a Turbocharged one but we couldn't get it tuned right to give us better overall performance in time for the competition.
