Saleen with big balls

I was out and about tonight, had my son with me, so no racing whatsoever. I needed gas, so I pull in to this Mobil station that's on the corner of the biggest intersection in town. This intersection is usually busy, all sorts of modified cars can be seen or heard passing through almost any time of day. Anyway, I had just finished getting my son in his car seat, when I heard this loud car slowing down for the red light. I look over, and there is a white saleen mustang coming to a stop. Shit this thing sounded sweet, he was revving it a bit, like he was challenging someone, even though there was nobody next to him. Then I see a patrol car pull up to the light, coming from the right of the mustang. I'm thinking to myself, this guy's gonna get tailed or busted, for sure. The light for the saleen turns green, and he launches it with a little chirp and takes off like a rocket. Now, the weird part is the cop just sat there like nothing happened! You could hear the saleen flying up the road for quite a while, but the cop did nothing. I don't know if they didn't see each other or what, but that cop must have been snoozing quite heavily to not see/hear that mustang take off.

that saleen sounded soooooo sweet, add another one to my list for potential next car.....

He was probably laughing his head off, cause he knew that he had a Camaro at home that ran better and cost less than that Saleen did...

Re: Saleen with big balls

there are cops around us that cannot pull you over, they can only monitor what's happening and give out parking tickets. that's my only guess

I wish we had cops like that around here. Now if the cop was in one of the camaro trooper cars and decided to bust the guy, that would have been a sweet chase.

The cop probably didn't see enough reason to go run him down. I'm sure they like seeing nice ride as the rest of us do.

The cops shift could of been over. Or else he was responding to a call and was just travelling there. You could floor it infront of a cop who has been called to some location for something, and he probably won't do much.

If i was that cop and saw the saleen fly. I'd be a perfect excuse for me to slam the gas down and speed Especially if it's the Camaro. I'd love to let loose one of the police camaros.

i must agree with matt, im sure the cop was laughing at how much the Saleen costs with such small gains over stock GT.

I don't know what year Saleen it was but if it was an S-281SC or S281E I wouldn't laugh. And jaws would be dropping if it was an S-351. S-281 just like Rousch Stage I and II are nothing. Also it could have been a GT with Saleen ground effect and wing, see those all the time.

Well, I don't know a lot about mustangs, and saleens are pretty rare around here, so I have no idea what model it was. I did some digging, and this was the only pic I could find that looked like the one I saw, except the one I saw was white and was a coupe. Whichever one it was, this thing was sick.
