first mods need help

alrite i think im about ready to start with the mods =).....as of now im not yet sure what to start with. Obviously for performance id go the i/e/h but i also want some show.....so friend recommended the 1 piece jdm black housing lights, what do you guys think i should start first with? Also with the CAI does it matter whether i get generic brands for like 40-50 bucks or the aem ones for like 180, header im thinking of a dc polished header proly....and exhaust im not yet sure of. Whats the difference between aem and generic CAI is my main question right now is it worth the extra money? thanks

the only differencee between a generic brand and a brand name CAI will typically be the quality. plus the brand name will probably back its product up wtih some service contract. you have a problem with the generic brand, you're shit out of luck. but performance wise, not very substantial difference.

first off, do you have that thing lowered yet? that's what i would start with. some nice lowering springs.

Like del said start to upgrade your suspension first! A good suspension setup will give you a lot more fun than 10 horses more which you won“t really notice anyways.

Not too low. I bought neuspeed sports and I still scrape on some things. I think the races are too low.

I do agree with suspension first. It makes your car way more enjoyable.

yea, I don't know if you'll be racing anytime soon but a good street setup with springs and struts will be cheaper than a set of good coilovers.

i went the route of tokico illuminas and the neuspeed sports. the ride is better than stock in my opinion. not bouncy like cheap coilovers. the illuminas are 5 way adjustable, which makes it easy to reduce understeer on your fwd car. i'm sure your friend will install them. the illuminas cost a little more, but they have a warranty, and the quality and ease of installation is worth it.

Re: Re: Re: first mods need help

yea maybe i should elaborate, i really dont plan on racing or making a superfast car.....atleast not for a while so its all agreed that struts and springs will be the most worth it for now? i guess for my needs coilovers arent really worth the money.

Theres always do it right the first time... You can have the price of struts and springs, plus coilovers later. Or just the price of coilovers and be done with it.

Just trying to point out my angle. Don't go with something expensive unless you think you will need it.

Re: first mods need help

coilovers are nice to have. i had some one time. while liked them i think i only adjusted the height maybe once in the year and half that i had them. i'd say go for it if you have the money to spend on it. i only got rid of them coz this guy offered a ridiculous price. he could have bought brand new ones for the same price he paid me. but for some reason he insisted on buying mine. i made about a $200 off it so why not you know? i think he was just in a hurry to get some. anyway so i just put back my old setup. the spring and shock setup will work just fine for you. but like i said, if you have the money for coilovers, go for it.
