Does this seem possiable?

I was just looking over my time slips from the track a few weeks ago, and I noticed something funny. My last run I ran a new STI, which was a close race. I just barely crossed the finish line before him. The time board said, me as a 13.6@102 and him as a 13.9@99

Well, looking over the time slips heres what it reads, I'm kinda confused. My buddy even said I finished before him. Is something messed up at the track? Should I have been even quicker that what it reads?
Me/STI
R/T .674 1.381
60' 2.146 1.809
1/4 13.632 13.547
MPH 102.24 99.88

Damn that AWD for killing me in the 60'

Your story + time slip makes sense.

You reacted .707 faster than him.
But he was .337 faster in the 60' which (on average) would give him .674 at the top of the track.

So your .707 launch advantage was chiseled roughly .674... giving you a slight win, him the cleaner run. That woul have put just in front of him at the finish.

The difference in your ETs = .085
The difference in launch vs 60' = .033

That is how I analyze it

Re: Does this seem possiable?

That makes sense, but I thought the timer started as soon as the lights went green, not from reaction time. So how would that make him run a faster time then me, but me finish first. I think I'm just making this more complicated then it has to be. So if I too were able to pull off a 1.8 sec 60ft, that would make a low 13 sec 1/4 mile time for me right?

OK, now we are getting somewhere. The ET clock starts once you "react", not before. Not when the light turns green. The light turns green and you could sit there for 5 minutes and still run a 13 sec pass.
The "reaction" means NOTHING for your ET. It only has to do with beating the other driver... which is what you did. You juped that guy on the line and beat him, even though you had a slightly slower ET.
GOOD JOB

As a "general" rule of thumb... an improvement of .1 in the 60' gives you .2 at the end of the track... so if you managed a 1.8.... you would be looking at .6 improvement... which would have given you a 13.0 flat on that run. Again, that is a general rule of thumb. I find it to be dead on with my car.

This does seem to be true on my car too. Last year at the track I was pulling 13.8 with a 2.2 sec 60ft time, now I'm 13.6 with a 2.1 sec 60ft. Again thanks.
