'98 528i intermittent radio

Hopefully someone has seen this and has an easy fix for me. Occasionally, when I turn the ignition on, the radio and steering wheel functions don't work. If I try turning the key on and off a few times I can ussually get it to all come back on. As well, sometimes I can open the passenger side vanity mirror and that brings everything back. Any ideas. Thanks all. Oh, the rear window shade seems to work intermittently as well.
