water spots/acid rain etched into clear

I have a black vehicle that has water spots or acid rain that's etched into the clear coat. I've tried using Meguiar's Medallion paint cleaner followed by their number 7 pure polish. I then put number 26 high tech yellow wax on it as a final step. I did all this by hand only. The spots are still there. Will only a rotary buffer with some compound get this stuff out? What about a clay bar?

Its hard to say with actually seeing the spots

The way that works best for me is: high-speed buffer
open cell foam pad -- heavy/medium polish
closed cell foam pad -- fine polish
*closed cell foam pad -- glaze* - not every time
orbital buffer to apply paint protection

Clay bar. It's worth a shot before going to more complicated and pricey routes. Worked for my swirls and paint blemishes.

Re: water spots/acid rain etched into clear

I do have a question about acid rain damage on my car windows. I have tried everything, the only thing that has barely helped, believe it or not, is flat stove top cleaner. But if anyone has any idea what else i can do please tell me!!! HELP!!!!!

Well, with every thing you have put on it at this point I cant see clay getting to the water spots real easy If your at your wits end with the spots and dont mind the work. Bucket and rag wash it with two or three drops of dawn dish soap. This will strip the wax. Then clay it & rewax her. Otherwise yah pay a shop to cut & glaze it.

Welcome to AF!

Have you tried glass polish yet, if not I would start there. Once the glass is free of etching, apply some kind of glass treatment - RainX is 1 brand, but there are many others.

Vinegar, wine vinegar to be exact, the clear one, 5%.....If need be, wet the window or paint surface, and apply small peices of paper towel, to match size of spot...Let soak, and reapply vinegar if necessary...The acid in the vinegar will break up the minerals in the water....Rewax paint...
