Talking aww poor guy got shocked

Ok ok well I can't get enough of driving the car and this guy that used to have an LT1 trans am, now has a 96-98 mustang and thought he would totally eat me up and spit me out

were driving along he's not following, then my friend shouts out the window $500!! then he begins to follow. We head out to a road thats totally dead. We line them up, I tell him on the 3rd beep to go (gives him the advantage) I chirp a little out of first then nail it (pretty much perfect launch) hitting 2nd, 3rd and 4th at about 100 I see he's way the hell back there. Get to a stop sign about 1 ½ mile down the road he flashes his lights and says he wants to go again. I said sure, waited for a truck to clear, turned back on the road the guy asks on the 3rd beep, I reply yeah! we do it again.

Well this time he hung a little better cause I was spinning like crazy all the way through 1st. 2nd, and some of 3rd he still didn't get ahead of me by 60 had at least 5-7 car lengths on him, then after that it grew ever so much.. about 115 I'd say he was 15-20 car lengths back (I was in total disbelief, damn its fast!)

Now here's where the BS begins, we head back into town and the guy driving the mustang said his trans-am would've tore me up then another guy that said his mustang runs 8 seconds on pump gas (saw him driving around sounds like a slighly modded mustang, that I edged out before) and then said theres a 86 transam with 400 HP. I mean the stuff was getting deep, all the 86 transam's I've seen around here are rust buckets or not the best looking things on the road. I mean sure they might have 400 HP, but all the ones I see are 305's and they've never tempted me to race them. Not saying I'm all awesome and I'm the fastest car on the road, but the guy in the mustang said he missed 2nd twice and wanted to race a 3rd time. (how the hell do you miss 2nd with a manual?!)

I mean you think after getting hammered 2 times in a row you'd learn I never told him what I had he just asked if I had a turbo and my friend laughed and said no and the convo ended there about what I had. Asked what I ran in the 1/4 and with my old motor it was a 14.9 so I told him 14.9, and he said he ran 14 flat then said it must've been from his bad launch passenger said they were sideways. My friend watched the whole thing as I focused they weren't even sideways, only people that were was me off the line, guess they don't like the fact an underrated car beat them

All and all it was good fun, but it just cracks me up when they talk about an 8 second stang that I see is driven all the time and what not. Should be real fun after the intercoolers put on with a smaller blower pulley. Guess he really wants to race again though he revved it infront of my house

It was fun, but man the BS was deep.. if I lose I'll admit to it, and there have been times I lost with my old motor. I told the guy flat out my clutch was crap and my car needed an alignment. (I should really learn not to race when my car has issues) I probably sounded like everyone else by telling him that, oh well. Got to see what the car would really do nailing it out of 1st and going through the gears

Nice kill. I used to own a Fiero GT myself, and I used to love breaking traction powering through a tight turn in that thing, even when it was stock.

My biggest gripe was the heating problems I used to have with that thing.

Wait, the owner said it ran 14 flat, not 8 seconds. Maybe it was 8 second in the 1/8th. Also how do you get 15-20 car lenths on him? Whats you Fiero pushing with the new combo?

sorry made that sound confusing, there were a few guys in the parking lot. The 96-98 one said he ran 14.0 the 86-87 said he ran 8. Not sure who he was trying to fool I've been to the strip many times and the old college I went to had a mustang as their car that was running 10.5's.

stock 3800SC was pushing 240/280, stock form I believe I've seen people pulling 13.2-13.8 in a fiero

believe I'm pushings maybe 280-300 at the wheels HP and something around 310+ for torque in a car that weights 2650-2700, might've not been that many car lengths couldn't really tell, but by 115 his lights were fading fast, but 15 car lengths I would say would have been very possible. 1/4 mile I should be pushing low to mid 12's. Next year if I get the money for the IC and 2.8 pulley should be able to pull off some 11's, but not positive on doing that yet tranny should be able to hold it. It's not like I go around doing 5-6 grand clutch drops.

my brother had a 88 LX 5.0 that was worked up pretty good believe he ran 13's, going to let my bro take it for a drive or take him for a ride and see what he thinks. Everything I've done now just makes it pull like crazy, my dad and his friend that helped me with the install took it for a drive and can't get over the fact the cars got serious balls (well my dad) his friend wasn't that surprised (worked for GM) What I'd love to do to get a hold of 03' Cobra

Ahhh i see now... Youre probably going to dip into the 12s with your setup right now. 96-98 Gts are high 14/low 15 second cars so I can see the kill you gave him

Re: Re: aww poor guy got shocked

Fiero's are light, they got that going for them. I believe a GTP with the same motor (3800 s/c) is in the mid to low 14's. My buddy has one, pretty nice car, just not as quick as I would like out of a s/c car. I can see a Fiero running mid to low 13's, but 12's seem pretty far for a stock 3800 s/c motor. Have you done any other mods to the car? Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still learing about those cars and motors from my buddy.

1. Intense 1.9 Aluminum Rockers (22 HP/17 TQ @ wheels)
2. West Coast Fiero 3800 Headers (ceramic coated )(16 HP/11 TQ @ wheels)
3. 160 Degree drilled t-stat
4. Spec stage 3 clutch
5. Thrasher 3.25 push on SC pulley (30 HP/?? TQ, 12 psi boost?)
6. Adjustable Fuel Regulator
7. Throttle body spacer (keeps tb cooler)
8. NGK TR6's (2 stages colder)
9. Custom ECM (lot of reprogramming done)
10. CAI w/ K&N (directly sucking nothing but cold air, right next to the little side scoop on the car)

was planning for a 75 shot of nitrous, but sold it, dont need screw anything up. Lot of fine tuning, my last motor I used nitrous on kept fouling the spark plugs. Went with colder plugs/tstat and all that so I don't recieve knock using the 3.25 pulley.

Re: Murdering the Mustang

I bet you can really feel the difference after that SC pulley swap too, but do you get that loud whine from the supercharger after you put in the 3.25 pulley? A couple of the GTP's that i've passed on the freeways had this incredibly LOUD whine that drowned out his and my exhausts....

BTW, Nice kill, bro. You got no doubts here.

yep you get the whining noise

wish I had a digital camcorder or something for vids, get some videos of it. Has a slight rumble nothing like the 2.8 sounded stock, then once you mash it all you hear is the blower, helps having the CAI that made it really go nuts. Not really sure on how big of difference the pulley swap was stock was 3.8 now I'm running 3.25, I decided to go mod happy before I put it in

I'm a sucker for any sort of forced air now.. turbos have a little nice noise to them as do superchargers. Few shots of the motor and car, haven't had time or had chance to borrow someones camera, I regret selling mine now

Thats funny how you take a generally considered POS car and kick ass with it. Man, thats so funny (in a good way).

I think the Northstar swap is amazing for the Fiero.

Now I'm not calling BS or anything cause' after seeing that swap you could beat him without much of a problem. My question is that if you were running 280-300WHP I would expect a 2,700 car to be a lot faster. I was running 205WHP in my 2,800 pound LeBaron and could pull a 14.6 in the 1/4 on a pretty much stock engine.

Have you dynoed it before?

Also nice kill! Long live the sleepers!!

haven't had it on the dyno yet, figure after the IC. I talked to a bunch of people doing this swap in the fiero and they told me 280.

I know my last motor 3.4 out of a 95 camaro was pushing 145? (slighly modded nothing big) at the wheels at probably 170-180 torque it pushed me 14.9. I know once you start hitting low 13's/12's it takes some major power. I had a few people tell me the 3.4 was one of the strongest they've rode in, but it didn't suite my needs and I honestly couldn't tell that much of a difference from the 2.8 to the 3.4

I know some people over on pff (fiero board) adding turbo's to their 2.8/3.4's just a turbo nothing more running 14.0 with the 3.4 and with the 2.8 low to mid 14's. I think the HP was right around what you had.

Re: aww poor guy got shocked

That pulley swap makes a pretty big difference. I just rod in my buddies GTP yesterday and you can feel the difference, not to mention the sound of the s/c. Although without some extensive engine work, like rebuilding the internals with higher quality parts, I think 12's might be just out of reach. by the way, I like how you painted the top of the motor red, looks good with the car.
