71 Corvette Problems

I've owned this corvette now for atleast 6 years. I decided that I wanted to rebuild the engine. I've finally got it back together and put in. First time i start it it starts up just fine until the radiator started spewing antifreeze. Finally have the problem fixed, so the second time we start it up and its a no go. So we let it sit for about 2 weeks. (We have another project going, 69 coronet.) Now we have time to take care of the vett. It still sounds like its not hitting all 8 clylinders. Advice?

I've encountered a similar problem with a sloppy distributor shaft or failing control box. A dwell meter and/or timing light on the balancer tape would offer a quick determination.

Coincidentally, in addition to my '71 Vette, my 2nd car is a '68 Coronet 440. I'm wondering if we might be able to swap a few fix stories and even some extra parts. I'm in Maryland on the DC side. Drop me an Email.

My latest problem on the Vette is a brake pedal that fades to the floor after a long trip of 50+ miles then stays low. Bleeding the system brings the pedal back up, but only for the next road trip. No brake fluid is appearing, the vacuum booster is new, and master cylinder is a fresh rebuilt one. Thoughts?

I came across a C-3 that had the same problem. The owner kept replacing master cylinders. I traced it down to air that somehow kept entering the left rear caliper. The caliper was replaced, no more probs.
