Corvette Vacuum Problem - High RPM

I'm new here. Does anyone have any ideas. This is a 1990 Vette.

The wipers stopped working, and the RPMs are over 5,000 at 65. The wiper motor was bad and replaced. The starter went bad and replaced. the battery went bad and replaced.

These problems all seem to have started around the same time. The hood release broke, so under dash might have been disturbed on fix. Then the driver hood latch cable fell off, and driver fender had to get ripped off to open the hood (latch is now temporarily off)

The AC also kicked out around the same time, but I think I got that working from someone's post here about a battery reset that related to a 'false start' on the low pressure switch (worked OK last night anyway)

Inside fuses seem OK. Can't find any vacuum hoses off, but it sounds like it might be a vacuum problem to me.

Someone also said it was the multi-function switch INSIDE the steering column, for the wipers, because it looked like power was going IN from the connector below the column, but not out.

I tried jumping the wipers as a temporary fix, but don't think I got it right, because they only moved up and down about 4 inches (maybe a 'Park' jump somehow). A jumper idea for the wipers might be helpfull, if I can't get to thereal problem.

I've got to travel from Florida to New Jersey in a day or so, and no one seems to want the work --

High RPM and wiper help is appreciated.

THANKS for any help out there.

Morning,
Sounds like lots of fun. I've learned over the years that electrical problems are tricky. When you try to fix 1 problem and do not know what your doing you can cause 5 problems that were not there before

My advice and experience is to check around for a "good" automotive electrician and have them fix your problem.

Audible -- tried that 1st -- they said $1000 for the AC. Charged me $200, and just told me it was out of Freon. Then I did the battery reset, and it's been fine ever since. Would have been angry if I had paid $1000 for a problem fixed by just pulling a battery cable off and on.

The Cruise actually just started working - I jiggled the vacuum hoses near the diaphragm, and it kicked in.

So now I'm left with -- High RPM, which I think is a vacuum leak somewhere, but can't find it and:

Wipers not working !

Any ideas?
