I was wondering if anyone, knows the rear end ratio, for a 1983 mustang glx V6, automatic trans. larry |

You could also check the old fashioned way. By jacking the rear of the car up and turn the rear tire one complete revolution. While you turn the tire one revolution, check to see how many times the driveshaft spins. The number of times the driveshaft turns will give you an approximate rear end ratio. -Craig

I've seen about 200 V6 Stangs and T-birds,and EVERY ONE had a 2.73 open 7,5" diff.Doesn't mean it hasn't been changed,of course.
By the way,unless your motor is modified,don't go beyond a 3.27 axle for it-the V6 really doesn't like to rev beyond 4000 so a higher gear is a waste of time. |

Since the car is an 83 there is still a possibility that there is a 6.75" rear in there. With either 2.26, 2.47, 2.73, 3.08, or 3.27 ratio gears, but a 2.73 is a more common gear choice with the automatic tranny, as vbrpete said.
