I recently started up my 95 s-10 and discovered that the engine was shaky and the idle rpm was changing continuously from about 400-900 rpms. It sounds like it wants to stall but doesn't. When I turn the engine off, it lets out a couple more gasps. I have never had a problem with this before and i know little about vehicles. Could somebody help me out and let me know what is going on with my truck?

First of all, what size engine does your truck have?
Is the Service Engine Soon light coming on?

95 idle problem if 4.3
IF you have the 4.3 v-6 check your egr valve this has been a real
problem on these 95s and really replacing it is the only way to go. Use a top engine cleaner like the GM top engine stuff at your dealer too. Sounds like a typical 4.3 egr but if you are having part throttle problems too add a bottle too of Chemtool or Techroline by chevron , buy good fuel from a known good company too and you can clear out those injectors. Couldn't hurt anyhow! |

if it is EGR, pull it, clean it good, put it back on. most EGR's that are replaced are simply due to carbon deposits. friend of mine at the GM garage even told me so.
i had to clean mine a while back, and ive yet to have any more trouble, mines a 95 CPI. |
